Despite the name, Ami-Chan isn’t Japanese. She’s a Brit fast on her way to becoming a full fledged American, a mom, a blogger, a psychic, and too many other things to list here! She offers website design and can even read tarot cards. Now that’s what we call multi-dimensional!

Why do you blog? I started out blogging on LJ just chatting and keeping up with some friends, and then put the blog on my domain…initially just to see if I could install WordPress with the idea of using it just to keep my relatives back in England up to date with the goings-on of our life now that the munchkin was born. I felt it would be easier to just write blog entries than to be constantly sending mass emails that might be getting annoying, and also they wouldn’t have to try and fathom out livejournal to see what was going on.

What do you like best about blogging? I like being able to connect with others. It’s great to get comments from people when something from your life touches them in some way, that they can relate to you, and you to them. The different perspectives and the similarities. I really like all the people I’ve been meeting and getting to know. There’s a great community of people all around that I had no idea about until I started researching ways to make my blog better.

What a great blogger we’ve got to feature today! Tami has been with Supahstar Saturday since the start - in fact, she was the very first person to jump in and participate. About time she was featured, don’t you think? Tami blogs over at Miss Write. She’s a writer, and like me, a voracious reader.

Why do you blog? I blog to express my self on various fronts pretty much without restraint other than what might be moral in my opinion. There are a lot of forums dedicated to the various aspects of my life that I like to be verbal and converse in but they tend to become either a hodge-podge of communal voice, or argumentative to the point of distraction from the original thought… or, the least gratifying of forum types… so lightly trafficked that I’m talking to myself anyway and may as well just have my own blog about whatever it is I want to talk about–which brings me right back to why I blog. I have three active blogs at the moment. One dedicated primarily to my farm life, one dedicated primarily to my writing life, and entertainment as a whole, and one where I just spout off about anything that crosses my mind. I enjoy them all immensely and the friends I’ve made within the blogging community are wonderful and cherished.

What do you like best about blogging? The freedom to express my opinion on a subject and the ability to share my life and thoughts with other like minded individuals. The Internet has become such a vast and wonderful place, and blogging is the bigger, better equivalent to diary writing. Diary writtng is a lonely business, and no one will likely every read the entries. With blogs, you can share your innermost secrets (if you’re bold), or just chit chat about the variety of life and find out you’re not alone in those feelings, and experiences. Diaries can sometimes make you more depressed over a situation, where blogs often leave you uplifted to find others in the same situations… and with blogs, when you have something joyous to share, you can get global support in your happiness as well.

Today we’re featuring a blogger who’s been with this meme since the start. Lisa from My Thoughts, Ideas, & Ramblings has participated in nearly every single Supahstar Saturday since I started doing it…that’s over 2 months of giving out link love to her fellow bloggers. Lisa’s blog covers a wide range of topics, from celebs to pregnancy to random bits of trivia.

Why do you blog? I blog, because I enjoy it. When I first started, it was to keep in touch with my friends and family back home. I am 4 hours away from them, and it is hard to keep in touch sometimes. This allowed them a glimpse into our everyday lives, and they were able to keep updated with what is going on with my daughter Madison. When they are this little, they grow and change so much that I liked to keep them updated in a more timely matter. Then last July I suffered a miscarriage. My blog turned into more a personal diary of how I felt. It gave me an outlet for all my emotions and feelings and frustrations. Now with this pregnancy, my blog has evolved yet again. I am able to give everyone a glimpse into our world and our excitement with the new baby. After I have the baby, I am sure I will be blogging about all the firsts he/she has.

What do you like best about blogging? This is an easy question. I love all of the wonderful people I have met. I have a whole world of online friends that I would never have met if I was not blogging.

I was a little distracted by the PR update starting yesterday, so I neglected to take care of Supahstar Saturday! This week’s featured blogger is Doris, who blogs at Life..Passion..Travel & More…

Doris is a self confessed travel freak as well as a stay at home / work at home mom (or “mum”, depending on who you ask) living in Singapore. (I’m extremely jealous because one of her most recent blog entries mentions shopping at Ikea. How come Ikea can build in Singapore, but there’s not one by me yet? I wanna shop at Ikea TOO!)

Why do you blog? It started when I was expecting Clayton and being new to motherhood and all, I needed a ’space’ of my own. But the truth was when he came, I had simply no time to maintain the blog and got back to it only after our first New Zealand trip in Oct 2004.

Blogging now is become a daily activity for me now. I blog because I can be ‘me’ in this space and the upside of blogging, I make lots of friends and meet many interesting bloggers out there. Staying in touch, networking and being able to express yourself are the main reasons to keep my blogging momentum going.

What do you like best about blogging? The ability to share my thoughts, experiences and opinions on life, passions and everything else! Developing virtual friendships is the
next best for me.

Welcome to another edition of Supahstar Saturday…and yes, it’s Sunday. I had my blinders on yesterday working towards a particular goal and didn’t get around to posting my Supahstar! So here I am, a day late, but NOT a dollar short. This week’s Supahstar is none other than Stephanie from Home With The Kids. Welcome to another edition of Supahstar Saturday…did you notice I took last weekend off? With it being Easter, it seemed like a good weekend for a break, but we’re back this week with another fab blogger. This time, it’s Rox! Why do you blog? I like to have a written account of things going on in my life, thoughts I’m having etc. For me it truly is a journal so I can look back and say “Hey yes I remember that, gee I thought that happened later in the year than that!” and have an accurate record. Time plays funny things with a persons memory

What do you like best about blogging? I enjoy reading as much if not more than blogging myself. I love seeing other peoples lives, how they are the same and different from my own. Sometimes people write a blog entry and it will give me a solution to a problem thats been plaguing me. Sometimes, it’s simply entertaining. Life really IS stranger than fiction!

Why do you blog? I’ve always loved to express myself through writing. I started writing when I was a teenager, and always felt more free to be more expressive than with my spoken words. Over the years, the love of writing translated into books, articles and then blogging was my next process. I have multiple blogs that cover general topics where I just speak about life, and I have niche blogs now where I have more focus. My mind tends to scatter and go off in different areas, so I like having the flexibility of different sites to spread those thoughts out on.

What do you like best about blogging? I think the thing I like best about blogging is the community that it creates. Meeting other bloggers, reading new blogs, and reading personal views on me is more appealing then news at times. I find news to be sad and depressing at times, because the media loves to play on ratings, rather than things that people actually want to know about. In reading blogs, you get to see what people think about different topics. I’ve met some great friends through blogging. I love the freedom I feel when I blog to discuss what’s important to me, rather than what the world may deem is important.

Our featured blogger this week is Cecile, of Work At Home Musings. It was an easy choice - I think she’s participated in just about every Supahstar Saturday since I started this last month! Her blog is all about managing home and family while working at home, something I know quite a bit about, having worked at home on and off since 1997. I met Cecile through PayPerPost and have enjoyed reading her blogs ever since!

Why do you blog? I started blogging because it was another venue to get notice for my WAH website, but then I found I actually enjoyed it. I don’t keep a journal so it has become my online journal. I started three more blogs on things I am interested in. I love doing internet research so it is not hard keeping up with all the entries!

What do you like best about blogging? My favorite thing about blogging is actually reading others’ blogs. Whenever someone leaves me a comment, I try to check out their blog as well. I have found some really interesting (and informative) information!

Lisa was featured for Supahstar Saturday a week ago, and she was nice enough to email me stats this week…they prove that once again, not only is participating fun, but you get a lot of return as far as traffic!

Our new blogger for this week’s Supahstar Saturday is Lisa of Hippie Spelunker. Don’t let the name fool you - she doesn’t wear bell bottoms, and she doesn’t go caving. This mom of three makes her home in Alabama, and runs her own business from home.

Why do you blog? I began blogging with two blogs, one to support my personalized letters for children business, as a great way to connect with my customers and provide them with any and all information that I could on children’s literacy and really just education, in general. And the other one, Hippie Spelunker, I started just to run my mouth! LOL I love to write, and I love to connect with people online, and blogging was a great way to do both! And then, of course, there was that 700 mile move away from my hometown, {{{{me}}}} …so it’s a good way for my family to ‘hear’ about the chaos that is our lives. I think it’s kind of like ‘Writing Karaoke’ - I can wax poetic, and think I’m the most philosophical and inspirational person alive, or I can tell crazy stories from our daily life, and think I’m the funniest person alive! And there is no one to edit me, but me! I’d say that’s a pretty sweet set up!

What do you like best about blogging? There are many aspects to blogging that I just love, but, the first thing that comes to mind is that I am honing my writing skills. I am working hard not to begin sentences with ‘and’ and ‘but’ - that is a hard one, you know! Blogging is keeping stuff like this on my mind all of the time - and I love that! I am a bit of a grammar nerd, so that explains that! There also is that little thing called MONEY! I won’t say I’m not astronomically pleased that I can be at home, doing something I love - writing - and avoid some dead-end job that I hate to go to every morning. That part totally ROCKS MY SOCKS OFF!!!

This week’s Supahstar Saturday featured blogger is Amy of Whatever I Feel Like. I have known Amy for YEARS. We met shortly after I got online…I think 1997? She was living overseas in Turkey at the time, but has sinced move back home to Philadelphia, which has enabled us to meet up on more than one occasion. In fact, I just saw her in October, when I was in Philly for the 3-Day walk. She has a fantastic blog where she talks about life, music, TV, her recovery, her kids, and her new puppy.

Why do you blog? I blog, therefore I am. Hehe! No, really, I blog because I like sharing myself and my life. I love that I can write about something completely inane and have a lot of people respond to that post. That interaction gets me charged up. I also really enjoy having a chronological record of my life, even if it’s in bits and pieces.

What do you like best about blogging? My favorite part of blogging is the people who comment on my blog.

I asked Loretta if she noticed a spike in her blog traffic after being featured last weekend, and she did! Before being featured, her Technorati ranking was 38,965. Now it’s moved up, to 36,319! Loretta also said that she received daily traffic from this site, as well as the others that participated, so it wasn’t just a one day boost. Last, but not least, she said ” It was a fun week to read about myself all over the internet, makes you feel all warm and fuzzy!”

This is the second edition of Supahstar Saturday - I first want to thank you all for participating in this brand new venture. I’d like to add that Marcus is a nice guy, plain and simple. When I vacationed in the town his brother lives in, he sent me to the bar that his brother works at, and hooked us up with free drinks. He’s campaigned for donations on my behalf for my 3-Day walk, and he’d give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. I can’t wait to meet him at PostieCon in June!

Why do you blog? I blog so I’ll have an outlet for my thoughts. I always wanted to be a writer in high school and now that I’ve discovered blogging I’ve got a creative outlet.

What do you like best about blogging? I love the fact that I write stuff that other people read. I love all of the friends I’ve made due to blogging. I love when I get comments on my blogs from out of nowhere like Robert Scoble commenting on an article about him or a high school soccer player commenting on an article about UNC soccer and telling me how she dreams of playing soccer for UNC. I just love when I discover that people I absolutely don’t expect are reading my blog actually are.

Welcome to our first Supahstar Saturday! Obviously these first five featured bloggers will be selected at random, since I don’t have a pool of past participants to draw from yet. So who better to pick than Loretta? She was kind enough to make these sweet images for me in her spare time, as well as a special image for the featured blogger to display.

Loretta Oliver is a married mom of 4 kids - all boys. She keeps the estrogen flowing in her house with cross stitching, quilting, sewing and other crafty and creative hobbies. She’s interested in photography and graphic editing but claims she is “not very good at it yet”. (I beg to differ, after seeing the images she made for Supahstar Saturday)

Why do you blog? Because otherwise I’d walk around the house talking to myself all day and it tends to make people think I’m a little wacko when I do that.

What do you like best about blogging? People. Blogging is at least 75% of my social life (I told you I was boring!) Between reading blogs and people visiting your own blog you “meet” a lot of great people! And then of course there’s the whole getting paid to blog, that’s always a nice bonus.

I’m starting a new meme called SUPAHSTAR SATURDAY on Saturday, February 10th, 2007. It’s designed to give one person a lot of traffic and buzz about their site in one week….from other bloggers just like you! Each Saturday I’ll feature a new blog. That blogger will be chosen randomly from the pool of participants - more on that in a bit. When I post the featured blogger on Saturday, anyone who wants to participate can - simply link to that blogger on YOUR blog and write about them or their site.

Here’s how to join in:

• I’ll post a new Supahstar each Saturday. You have until the following Saturday to write and submit your entry.
• A link to both the main URL and 1 or 2 “deep links” to individual entries is preferred. (Please do not use the “nofollow” tag in your links, as it defeats the purpose of this meme!) Be creative! Find a post or 2 on the featured blog that you can have fun writing about.
• Once your created your blog entry, come back here and post on the entry I’ve written about the featured blogger…err..Supahstar. That way everyone can enjoy your work. Just fill our your name and blog URL in the comments, and then leave the Permalink to your post as well.
• So now you’re wondering, “How do I get picked to be a Supahstar?” It’s easy, really. Just participate FIVE times and then you’re eligible. I ask that you participate at least five times so that we only “reward” people who are taking the time to actively promote others through Supahstar Saturday. If you’re too busy to join in one weekend, not to worry, you do not have to participate weekly in order to be picked, as long as you do the minimum 5 posts.
• Do you have more than one blog? Feel free to put the Supahstar on both blogs! Additionally, if you’d like another blog you author to be featured, we’ll do so - just participate at least 10 times. 3 blogs = 15 times, so on and so forth. Your blog must be regularly updated and not a load of spammy entries. We like blogs that are welll written and sparkle with your personality!
• In return, you’ll see an increase in traffic, more readers, your Technorati rank will go up, and you’ll have more inbound links which can lead to a higher Google Pagerank. Completely free! You’ll also get a special “Featured Supahstar” image to display on your blog. (If you haven’t submitted your blog to Technorati, head on over now and take care of that)

Speaking of images, these were all created for me by my friend Loretta - didn’t she do great? You can grab one of these and display it with your entries for Supahstar Saturday (linking back to this site of course!), or feel free to put the small badge on your sidebar and link it back here. (Please save the images and upload to your own server - hot linking isn’t nice!)
