that admin guy - an update

When I posted my entry about that admin guy the other day, my sister left a comment and pointed out that her blog entries say admin. Uhh…that would be the blog that I set up. Where did I go wrong?

I logged in and verified that her display name was set up correctly. It was. I poked around in the code, and found out that instead of using CODE to call the author name, it was hard coded in the theme to put “Posted by Admin” on each entry. Duh! It really threw me for a loop, considering that admin was the user name as well.

The moral of this story is that if changing your display name doesn’t work, check your code!

joomla ebook

I use Wordpress for all of my blogs, so I don’t know much about Joomla, other than it’s a new open source content management system. You can use it for a simple website or a complex website. With new software, comes a new learning curve. Rather than go it alone, here’s an ebook on how to create your own Joomla Templates. It’s written for complete beginners (I like that!) and you don’t need expensive software or graphic design knowledge in order to create the Joomla Templates demonstrated in the book. You’ll learn how to use Joomla tags, edit the style and theme of a template, and even how to package your personal template for use by others.

customize myspace

I have a MySpace page. Doesn’t everyone? I have a few too many blogs to keep up with, so I keep my MySpace basic. I don’t have time to figure out how to code a MySpace page - I’ve got too many other things in my head to make room for that. I found a great site tonight with tons of code to help you customize your Myspace page. There’s a blurb explaining what each code does, and where to place it on your page. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
