As I log into the Wordpress admin dashboard for GeekySpeaky, I can’t help but notice all of the incoming links, most of which look like this:
Do Follow Blogs
Giant List of Do Follow Blogs
Do Follow Blogs With PR
and so on and so forth
Clicking on any one of these links will lead you to a post that links to this blog and all of the other do follow blogs and gives instructions on how to leave a comment for link juice.
Most people reading that crap are SO missing the point of this even being a do follow blog, as evidenced by the comments I get here daily....

I set up a blog on a friends new domain today (she’s at LifeWithFrenchie.com if you’re nosy!) and I got to thinking about how far blogging, and blog software has come in just a few years. The fact that it’s a standard option in your CPanel to set up via Fantastico says a lot. I remember someone setting me up with Grey Matter when I first started blogging, and at the time, I was only one of a handful of blogger I knew of. There were no themes for Grey Matter, or plugins on the web. Not only is Wordpress free, but it sets up in a matter...

The Google update appears to be done, and most bloggers I know aren’t happy. I only know of a handful of bloggers who saw a pagerank increase, but I know of many, MANY more who experienced a pagerank decrease. I’m among the decreasing group, as I lost PR on my two oldest blogs. I don’t know about you, but I find Google to be sort of the overlords of the internet – impossible to please. So much of my success depends on how they view my sites, and there aren’t instructions out there on what you can do to please the Google gods....

I found a new Wordpress plugin some of you may be interested in, that’s sort of a way to take dofollow to the next level. The CommentLuv plugin will display the last post of the commenter within their comment. The plugin visits the site they’ve inputted into the URL field, and scrapes the last post made, and displays the link at the bottom of the comment they’ve left.
I don’t think I’m going to implement this on any of my blogs, since I’m already pretty hot and heavy with dofollow, but figured I’d throw it out there...

I set my Stumble Upon search to “Star Wars” last night and I’ve come across the most hilarious stuff! This parody of Stormtroopers doing an episode of COPS is among the best things I found. I really want to know how they got so many Stormtrooper costumes, as well as a Boba Fett costume, where they found someone short enough to act out the role of the Jawas (a child? little person?), and a guy who looked like Uncle Owen.
Watch the “domestic dispute” bit with Aunt Beru & Uncle Owen – freaking HILARIOUS. You’ll...
I’ve found a new plugin that will help me to continue blocking comment spam on my blogs, and make using the D-list and do follow plugin a little easier.
Delink Comment Author is a new plugin that makes removing a URL from a comment a one click process. Sometimes, the comments I get are horrible, and it’s completely obvious that they’ve been left to take advantage of my dofollow links. Other times, it’s more a gray area – a great comment, but a link to a mortgage site, or a dog training school. Up til now, I’d been editing...
Earlier this week, I posted that my D List (of blogs using a “do follow” plugin) is still going strong, and that I continued to weed out comments that I felt were only being left for the link love from the plugin.
It’s probably a bit easier for me to tell when this is happening, because I have several blogs. This afternoon, for example, I got a comment on my 3DayMom blog, followed by a comment on BuyMeBlog, and then a 3rd comment here on GeekySpeaky – all left by the same person, of course. Gosh, what are the chances that he’s...

With the help of these detailed instructions on how to do a Wordpress upgrade, and a little moral support from friends, I’ve successfully upgraded this site to the latest version of Wordpress, which is 2.2.1. I was perhaps, a little more anal about the backup than the situation required, going as far as to backup the entire site – the blog, the forums, and the links directory, but a little overkill never hurts. When I completed the upgrade, I got an error message on my site and quickly realized it was due to a plugin that had been deactivated...

I came across an entry on Bloggers R Us about a great plugin for Wordpress called Optimal Title. Always interested in improving my search engine results, I read the entry and decided to immediately implement it on my blogs – so far, I’ve added it to this blog and Simple Kind Of Life. The whole process takes about 2 minutes, and the results should be worth it.
As Eve pointed out in the article, instead of having your blog appear in Google or other search engine results with your blog title first, and THEN your post title, like this:
GeekySpeaky...

I’m always interested in new revenue steams for my blogs. I’ve often wished I could get paid for sharing video content – there are a few videos I’ve put up on YouTube that have received thousands of views – wouldn’t it be nice to be making money each time someone watched one of those videos? It’s not an option on YouTube, but it IS an option on your very own blog, with a new site called The News Room. CPM start at $1 – that means for every thousand views of a news story, you get paid. You earn more money...
