I’m a day late on the contest, but not a dollar short! A new contest starts here today, right now, and on my other blog, Simple Kind Of Life. The contest is open to any resident of any country. More info on that down below in the rules section. For this month, I’ve also upped the number of entries you earn by BLOGGING about the contest to TEN. More on that below too!
This month we have 2 prizes. The grand prize for August is a:

This little baby is USB powered, so you don’t need to have a separate power supply for it. It’s sleek, small, and light, and a great way to back up your music or photos.
The booby prize is a:
I heart Adam Sandler, and you will too when you watch this movie!
Now, here’s how you enter!
Leave a comment: If you leave a comment on the contest post each month (FYI, this is the contest post for July) you get ONE entry into the drawing. The comment can’t be a generic “Hi”, or “Nice idea”, or “Pick me”. You’ve got to say WHY you want to win.
Blog it: You don’t need to be a blogger to enter, but read on if you are! If you blog about the contest, and link to the contest post (again, that would be this post right here, but it will change each month) you get TEN entries into the drawing.
- Just like when you leave a comment, your blog entry should be about why you want to win, it should direct others here to show them how they can win, and it should link to the contest post for that month.
- In order to submit your blog posting so that I know you get an extra TEN entries into the drawing, you need to EMAIL the link to me at colleen_ccATyahooDOTcom - please do NOT submit using the blog comments here.
- If you enter the contest here AND on my personal blog by blogging about it, please, submit a separate email for each contest entry.
MySpace Bulletin: Write about this on your MySpace as a bulletin for all of your friends to read, and get TWO entries into the contest!
- Just like blogging about it, the bulletin should let people know about the contest, and link here to let them enter it.
- In order to submit your MySpace bulletin to get the 2 extra entries into the contest, EMAIL the link to me at at colleen_ccATyahooDOTcom - please do NOT submit using the blog comments here.
- Please note as well - if you are entering BOTH of my contests by using MySpace, I need a separate email for each contest entry!
- ONE ENTRY INTO DRAWING: Leave a comment here saying why you want to win the prize, why you deserve it, or what you’d do with it. One comment per person please. (This is a random drawing, so I can’t really say creativity counts, but I’m interested to see what people come up with!)
- ONE ENTRY INTO DRAWING: Hop on over to Digg.com and vote for this entry there. If you’re not a registered Digg member, sign up - it’s easy and free!
- ONE ENTRY INTO DRAWING: Post about the contest in your favorite forum, or place a link here in your signature post on that forum.
- TWO ENTRIES INTO DRAWING: Post about the contest as a MySpace bulletin for your friends to read, link here, and invite them to enter. Easy, peasy!

- LEGAL STUFF: The contest is open to any resident of any country. However, the prizes may not always work for your location. Should that be the case, and you win, I will substitute an Amazon.com (or other similar store) gift certificate for prize value (what I paid for it of course!) instead of that prize, if you prefer. Disclaimer: Contest is open to any resident of any country, except where prohibited by law. Rules and requirements are subject to change. I will never change the prizes, rules, or requirements during an open contest, but would instead announce any changes to be made when the next round started. I’m fair like that.
Digg it: This entry has been submitted to Digg.com, and if you’re a Digg user, you can Digg It! Digging it gives you ONE entry into the contest. Signing up for Digg is free, so it’s worth your while to join if you aren’t already a member!
Share it: Are you a member of a forum? Well duh, aren’t we all? You’ve got a couple of options here. You can post about the contest at your favorite forum and let your forum friends know how to enter. Please don’t spam a forum though. When in doubt, ask the forum owner for permission. Alternatively, you can place the link to this entry in your forum signature, along with something like “Win at GeekySpeaky Giveaways!” Sharing on a forum gives you ONE entry into the contest. Again, email me if you go with this option so I know!
Create It: Think you’ve got a creative method for sharing the contest that I haven’t come up with? Let me know, and you may just be awarded bonus entries! Email me your ideas at colleen_ccATyahooDOTcom
So let’s recap, shall we?
The contest runs until the August 21st, and a winner will be picked at random on that day from everyone who earned an entry. The more entries you earn, the better your chances are!
Have fun!

I can’t wait to blog about this one! I just got a laptop about two months ago, so wouldn’t it be cool to take an external hard drive with all my stuff on it when I hit the road?
Oh I want that hard drive!
I’m posting this on my Thursday Giveaway list now, so it’ll be up in about two hours. I want the wedding singer. Not sure if I need the hard drive.
These are some awesome prizes. Being a “techy” myself I want that 80GB Portable Hard Drive. I am starting a new engineering job in a few weeks. I’ll be the Technical Director for a satellite site of a church. We will be running mass every Sunday and I will be running the mixing board and recording the whole service into our Pro Tools rig. The session gets recorded into a computer, therefore onto a hard drive. Well, the internal hard drive on the computer is not large enough and is not a recommended place to store the files. It should be on an external. I currently have an external, but it is already half used and it will get eaten up really fast. I will therefore have to go purchase another external drive. But, if I were to win this fabulous prize… So, give it to me! I NEED it. If I do not win the hard drive, I will gladly accept the DVD boobe prize as well.
Oh! I’ve seen these and I want one so bad! It’d fit perfectly into the smaller case on my bookbag and I’m starting all my computer classes this semester. It’d be so much harder to lose something that big! I always lose little flash drives =( Plus, I’m pretty certain my current external is slowly crapping out on me. This would just be perfect timing…
Personally, I’d like to win because I am obsessive about backing up my pictures and video I take of my family. And with the purchase of our house coming up, I’m going to be taking LOADS more pictures, so it’d be great to have something like that around.
I also dugg it. (I’m srm86 over there.)
And I’m going to be blogging about it and then emailing you. =D
I’d love to win the hard drive because I’m really bad about backing up my files, and having one place to put them all instead of numerous floppy disks would make it a lot easier.
man that portable hard drive would come in real handy! I’ve practically filled up my laptop harddrive to the gills with digicam photos of my kids. i really need to archive those files.
Oh wow, I’d love the hard drive. I have a lot and I do mean a lot of files on my computer that are related to my websites and blogs that I would hate to lose. This would make it so much easier to handle backing them up instead of using CD-ROM.
I’d love to win the portable hard drive because I don’t have a laptop. I have a ton of files on my computer that if i wanted to take with me, i’d have to take my whole computer, tower and all. With a portable hard drive, i could just take that and all my files backup with me wherever I go.
Why I want to win? Thats a simple question. First of all, everybody wants a good thing without paying. So am I. But that’s not the reaso why should you give me this awsome thing. Actually, I have many good things in my computer (my created music, songs, poetry, paintings), but my internet is so slow that I can’t send my files to anyone. So, if I had this thing, i would be able to carry my stuff to my school and show it to my friends. I know they would love it! So that’s the biggest reason
I’d love to win the external hard drive because I make music on my computer and my computer always shuts down on me. I get so scared that all of my music will be lost if I don’t get one. :S My brother has one and the only way we can back up those files are if he puts it on his hard drive but he never has time to. So, our important files are still on this computer and can still be lost!! Scary. That’s why I need that hard drive.
Okay besides this comment I also did the myspace bulletin and digg and sent you the email.
I’d love to win this because my hubby is very much into computers and this would be a great gift to give him since he does so much for me and the kids.
I need this external hard drive to transfer my music to various computers (transferring to a hard drive is actually faster than copying over my wireless network). It would also be really helpful when traveling to store some large projects for work. But then again, that booby prize doesn’t look half bad…
I believe I should win the hard drive because believe it or not, I don’t actually have one! I have a key chain thumb drive, but it’s only a gig and fills up instantly :/
It would be epic to have a better means of transferring files (especially huge .psd’s between parents’ houses (Curse my laptopless life! lol!)
PLUS, I’m clearly going to be running for president soon (C.Whyte, the year 2020 ‘perfect vision’), and I’m pretty sure presidents need things like portable HD’s.
Sweet, my old portable drive died and I’m too cheap to buy a new one, this could work >:)
I really would like this, my old hard drive broke.
I really need a portable hard drive. (Since I’m not getting a laptop soon?!?) But I’ll take the movie to watch with my hubby… I’m kind of a booby prize kind of girl.
Oh, I could think of a geeky and a non-geeky reason for winning this!
Geeky: I could use it to run portable apps and then have a system in a system. Just plug in to any PC XP Windows or above, and I’m good to go.
Non-Geeky: I need somewhere to put my crap, and my current portable has a separate trolley and external power unit… Too heavy to carry around every day!
Kenneth
Hello! I just dugg it!
I wish to win either the 80 GB hard drive or DVD of the Wedding Singer because:
The 80GB hard drive would be perfect for me and my friends to use as we like to share movies/pirated video games on occasion and an 80GB portable HD would be perfect for that. (Don’t you like my honesty?).
The Wedding Singer was a great movie in the old Adam Sandler days when he didn’t do money making but poor movies.
Mr Fab’s nethers fring many pleasures! I should get a prize for saying that!
I could definitely use that hard drive. I do an Internet radio show and I could do it from anywhere if I could drop my mp3 library on something small and portable. Very cool.
I’m going to blog about this too. I’ll send that info to get the 10 entries.
Forget what Patrick said…sorry Patrick.
I could use it to store all my music, photos and attempts at writing!
And if I happen to get the DVD, no sweat. I love that movie too!
Ooo, me, me!! I want to win too! I would love to use the external hard drive for my many photos…they are not currently backed up other than my computer (DAGEROUS!) Also wouldn’t mind giving that DVD of the Wedding Singer a new home too. I love me some Drew Barrymore and I have a crush on Adam Sandler! I think they are the Meg Ryan and Tom Cruise of our generation
Fun movie, so pick me then, ok!?
I blogged about this contest too
Hey do I get a free entry since its my birthday?
I want to win the 80GB portable hard drive to store my junks especially my videos. My computer is a few years old one and it is running slow with those on. I might even re-format my computer by backing up files using the hard drive. Now if I don’t win, all above wouldn’t come true.
i want that usb hard drive as well..
hehe.. hmm not bad strategy.. this way can increase the bandwidth and ur site’s traffic
good work …

Nice contest!
Hmmmm I can’t really come up with a witty or imaginative reason to win, but I did blog about ya, and am geeky enough that I would actually be thrilled with the “booby” prize ..
I too heart Adam Sandler …
Good lucks to everyone!
Hey that’s a handy drive there! I also love the wedding singer too! I could really use that drive as I’ve had a few of my drives and other media storage devices die out on me this past year.
Replacing my busted drives is usually hassle free since I shop online at Computer Giants. No matter what I have that’s recently bitten the dust, they carry a replacement. I’ve bought Hard Drives, Enclosures and memory from them.
I know I won’t win the drive here so I may just have to go buy one. Sounds nice!
I need all the harddrive space I can obtain for all my digital recorded TV and video files. Since it’s portable, I could carry it with me when I travel. Plus, I’ve always liked the Wedding Signer so I wouldn’t mind getting that prize either.
I’ve posted this on my blog.
Hi,
I would love to win this contest. My blog is full of contest entries, like this one.
Prince John
Ramblifications
Count me in. Why I deserve it? I’m always browsing and hence picking up some malware or the other that routinely crashes my system. This will be an ideal backup.
Love this . . . haev so many pictures of my son that are taking over my computer - well, that and my Itunes library!
Boy do I need that drive!!! My old computer is chock full of mp3’s, photos, and ebooks and I have no way to transfer it all to my new computer! Nope, the cd burner on it is broke as a joke! But if I had that little baby…. Not only that, but it would be great to take to school so I could access all my stuff while I’m spending one of the many hours in the computer lab!!
Article has been dugg. Onto the commenting portion of this, heh. If I win either of these prizes, I will be giving it away to one of the readers of my blog, Randomn3ss.com, in a similar contest. Rather than be selfish, I plan on rewarding one of my readers with the prize. Expect a blog post about this contest to show up there in the next day or two, outlining my evil plans.
That is one sexy prize I blogged about it and dugg it of course. You give away the coolest stuff
Stumbled and posted on facebook page too ~ Just cause you’re cool.
I want to win the hard drive to start my own blog contest!!
Where on earth have I been?? I’ve been keeping my eye on the sale ads looking for a portable hard drive, and there has been the opportunity to win one right here, under my nose! I would really love that portable hard drive… my Dell laptop is sneaking up on the magic 3 years, and I have nothing in place to back up all my files, and pictures, etc. I live on the edge. Not to mention, there are a lot of files I’d like to move off the laptop completely as they’re slowing things down.
Dugg, Stumbled, and blogged it.
Thats a sweet looking harddrive…
I need this hard drive because I’m absolutely paranoid about losing my music, but I never get around to actually buying a portable drive.
Oh! I need that hard drive for all of my pictures!!
I hope the contest is open. I dugg as navjotjsingh and I would need that drive to transfer songs and lots of files to share with my friends. Also handy for backups.
I’m not too late for this, am I?
This would certainly make me feel more secure with regard to my digital pics given the distressing whirring sound that’s been coming from my hard drive recently…
I’m in! I just filled up my 40GB portable drive the other day. I can’t decide on what needs to be deleted, so I guess I need a bigger drive!
This is too cool! I want to win because I heart Adam Sandler too! And I could use some portable storage as I’ve had bad luck with hard drives dying and need somewhere to back up my files
I could really use that 80GB hard drive to backup all my work data. I tried to burn a DVD backup recently - made three DVD coasters and ended up with no backup. A portable hard drive would be the way to go.
Hope I’m not too late.
