With the help of these detailed instructions on how to do a Wordpress upgrade, and a little moral support from friends, I’ve successfully upgraded this site to the latest version of Wordpress, which is 2.2.1. I was perhaps, a little more anal about the backup than the situation required, going as far as to backup the entire site - the blog, the forums, and the links directory, but a little overkill never hurts. When I completed the upgrade, I got an error message on my site and quickly realized it was due to a plugin that had been deactivated to complete the backup. We seem to be completely back in business now!
