idontget the iphone

I’ve been reading a few other tech blogs today, and I’m astonished at the number of people who waited in line for an iPhone. Time is money people, and I’m not so hot to get something that I’d wait in line for hours for it. Concert tickets, maybe. A once of a lifetime deal, yes. A phone that I can buy in a few weeks, or a few months from now? No. Get our your cookbooks and look for turkey recipes, cause all of you people who bought it today are turkeys!

Heh.

Seriously though. One blog I read said he had his girlfriend stand in line for him for 3 hours, and then he waited another hour. And now, because of everyone else trying to activate the iPhone at the same time, it doesn’t take 5 minutes to activate - instead, you’ll wait 4 hours. What a hassle! I like having new stuff, but not for that headache and hassle. I’d rather wait a few weeks, and walk right into a store, pick one up, and pay. No headaches, no hassle.

4 hours? I’ve seen a video they have a camp outside the store. Man that is a hassle.

You know what they say: make them want to buy it and they’ll wait forever; well, in this case waiting for hours to buy it, then wait for the activation.

But hey, here’s another question: What in the world would anyone gain to wait for hours to get it instead of buying it 2-5 days later? Just to go over to your friends and try to impress?

I don’t get the things either. I’ve never been much for gimmicky phones anyway. It seems nowadays you can do everything from browse the internet to brush your teeth with the things. All I care about is making phone calls. I don’t need the rest of that stuff :)

My husband sent me a link to a news story from Dallas about a woman who withdrew thousands of dollars from her bank account the day the iPhones went on sale. She drove up to the AT & T store, paid the guy first in line $800 bucks for his spot.

She went in with the idea that she would buy all of the iPhones and sell on eBay. Well, she could only buy one as AT & T had limited it to one per customer. The guy in line did get his iPhone as he was with three friends who were only buying two phones.

That was worth the wait in line. It’s like getting a free iPhone with accessories..:)
