possible reasons i can’t get indexed

After learning that I was having indexing issues with two of my sites this afternoon, I started to look into possible reasons. Or rather, my friends Julie, Amy, and Deb put their collective heads together to help me figure it out.

Possible reasons…

1) I’ve been banned by Google. I hope not, since it’s a new site, 3 months old, without objectionable content.

2) Duplicate content. One site is a subdomain of the other - Julie suggested that since the layout, links, and appearance are similar, Google might think the sites are a duplicate of each other, even though the content is unique.

3) Google glitch - I was pointed to a thread on a webmaster forum where others had the same issue, and it resolved itself.

4) I’m in good company. Deb has the same issue with one of her sites, and even mailed a letter to Google after finding their online contact info severly lacking.

Right now, I’m in wait and see mode. I don’t want to make a lot of changes to my site for duplicate content, when that may not be the issue. It’s hard knowing exactly what Google wants…it’s even harder when you can’t pinpoint where you went wrong.

Sorry to hear that you’re having problems.

I wonder if it could have anything to do with all the splogs that have been stealing our work lately? You know how I found this post Colleen? It was on a splog that stole 10 posts from my celebrity Scoop blog.

    Your post is located here:

All of my sites have been getting hit hard by these splogs lately and I’m worried that it might affect my sites being indexed or cause other “duplicate content” type problems too.

Anyway - I created a new post on Celebrity Scoop with a stop sign image that says stop stealing my site feed. Feel free to save the image and use it the next time you discover your post have been stolen.

My stop stealing post is located at:

I hope you get your site index problem resolved soon!

As it should be - this isn’t the site I’m having issues with.

    It’s www.thefloridablog.com and tampa.thefloridablog.com that I can’t get indexed.
