back links

An important part of increasing traffic and your pagerank is building backlinks. Here are some easy tips on how to build back links. First, you need to understand the point of doing so - by increasing the number of links to your site, your search engine ranking will go up, which means that instead of appearing on the 10th page of search results in Google, you’ll be on page 1 or 2. How many people click through to see results on page 10? Not many, so by being on the first few pages of search results, your traffic will increase.

Don’t buy links from a broker promising placement on 1000’s of websites. Your link will end up on link farms, and the Google algorithm will discount those links. Directories are a good place to start, and most are free, and many directories have a high PR as well. You can also use a system like Blogitive - you pay a one time free and submit a press release, and bloggers will write about your product or service and link to your site. After a few months of working your site submissions and getting the word out, you’ll see an increase in your daily visitors and your pagerank will go up as well!

Sound advice but omitting to mention that it is more important to gain non-reciprocal links than reciprocal ones. In Google’s head to head system of links counting as votes, you need more links in than links out. Using Blogitive is a good suggestion.
